Who Can Follow Heath Ledger’s Iconic Performance as the Joker?

Warner Brothers really does deserve quite a bit of sympathy. They are trying to get their DC movie universe up and running, but the bar has been set so impossibly high. The comic book war between Marvel and DC has raged for 50 years and through most of that time, Marvel was always on top. Poor Warner Brothers is going to have to dig deep to compete with Disney’s Marvel films.

Re-casting Batman when he was so revered as portrayed by Christian Bale was not easy. The choice of Ben Affleck was not well-received, and the fact that Bale has since begun loudly regretting his choice doesn’t help, either.

The truly difficult task, which really feels unfair, is the casting of The Joker. Heath Ledger’s portrayal of The Joker was more than a fun summer movie performance. The character resonated with an entire generation, including Jared Haftel.

Apparently Warner Brothers is still looking at Jared Leto to play the character in the upcoming “Suicide Squad” film. The guy is an eccentric, an acclaimed actor in his own right, but how can anyone be expected to follow Heath Ledger?

Leto is only saying that he has sworn to keep his mouth shut. It does seem to look like he will be playing The Joker alongside Margot Robbie as Joker’s demented girlfriend, Harley Quinn. The addition of Harley might separate this version of the character enough for fans to accept Leto without unfairly comparing him to Ledger.

New Madonna Music Leaked

The fast world of Internet piracy is becoming much more advanced. No one is safe anymore. The secret Beyonce album that was released on Christmas day last year was leaked in the wee hours of the morning before surfacing on iTunes. This winter’s Will Smith and Jay-Z produced remake of the “Annie” movie has been leaked, and it doesn’t even hit theaters until December 19th. Madonna has new music, and her manager wants you – the fans – to help find the person that leaked this.

Anyone that has every installed any Peer-2-Peer software knows that this is like finding a needle in a haystack. The reality is that these groups add tags to their leaks, but they still stay anonymous. It is sort of a twisted genius method to finding their leaks online. The tags allows Internet users to find material that was leaked by the group, but there is no actual name associated with these hackers. That, of course, would be dumb.

The manager has a noble cause, but fans such as Igor Cornelsen already know that this isn’t going to lead to anything. No fan that is dying to hear new Madonna music is going to drop information on another source that fed what they were craving. Other people that are not fans of Madonna are not going to care enough to pursue this. The only thing it does is promote new Madonna music.

Excitement Builds For Opening Of ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’

For those of you who just used the long Thanksgiving weekend as the perfect opportunity to have a Lord of the Rings DVD marathon, the final prequel in the Hobbit series is much anticipated. New screen stills, posters, and details have emerged for the final installment in the series, scheduled to be released December 17th in the US.

Long-time fans of Tolkien’s Middle Earth high fantasy epic have had almost nothing but praise for the Peter Jackson film adaptation. The film series has so far stayed faithful to the original novels, barring some notable exclusions such as the character of Tom Bombadil.

The fantasy series follows the exploits of a band of adventurers through a Medieval setting as they battle for the peace of Middle Earth. Fantastic beings of every variety, including dragons, wizards, elves, goblins, orcs, and many, many castles and kings, pile into the fray for an adventure that rivals the Star Wars universe in terms of epic scope. The original books by author J.R.R. Tolkien became the codifier for fantasy fiction in the eyes of Stephen Williams wine and others, and have since set the standard for all Medieval-themed fantasy.

The original Lord of the Rings trilogy grossed $281 million in domestic box office, and The Hobbit series is on target to have a gross domestic total of $880 million after the final release.

Okay, the REAL Apocalypse Has Been Cast

More news has emerged on the X-Men: Apocalypse front. The follow-up to the highly successful X-Men: Days of Future Past film now has a star in the title villainous role. Oscar Isaac has been cast as the all-powerful near demi-godlike Apocalypse.

The name of the character is not one that has been pulled out of the air just because it sounds cool. The character of Apocalypse seeks nothing more than absolute total domination of the universe. Looks like only a superhero team can stop him or, at the very least, try to stop him.

The news that Isaac will be playing the role blows all speculation out of the water that Idris Elba was going to land the role. Honestly, the more imposing Elba would have been a more logical choice. We do have CGI these days so the smaller in stature Isaac can be made much larger in life thanks to special optics and other twists and tweaks.

Apocalypse can be considered the Doctor Doom or the Thanos-type villain for the X-Men. He is so supremely powerful, defeating him is not even an option. Simply stalemating is the best you can hope for if you are following along like Keith. If you fail, the world loses.

X-Men: Apocalypse is forthcoming in 2016 and another X-Men adventure arrives in 2018. A third Wolverine film is going to be released in the future as well so moviegoers never have to feel a shortage of mutant hero fun.

Billy Gilman Comes Out Gay

The country singer Ty Henderson revealing that he was gay, inspired Billy to come out and reveal that he was also gay. He stated, “A fellow country artist and friend made it easier for me to make this video,” Gilman posted a video on youtube just hours after Henderson came out. It was surprising to Vijay, but he is glad that he did it.

In the video Billy stated, ” Being a gay male country artist is not the best thing, It’s difficult for me to make this video, not because I’m ashamed of being a gay male artist, or a gay artist or a gay person but … knowing that I’m in a genre and an industry that’s ashamed of me for being me.”

Gilman reported that his Nashville friends such as Vince Gill, Leanne Rimes, and Keith Urban are very supportive. Leanne even tweeted both Billy and Ty stating that she was very proud of them and that it brought tears to her eyes.

‘G.I. Joe 3’ Pulls in Martin Campbell to Direct

The ‘G.I. Joe’ series hasn’t exactly set the world on fire in the critical sense. The first film was both loved and hated for the irreverence it displayed on the big screen while the second film brought fans a little more of what they wanted out of their favorite action figure/cartoon characters of the late ’80s. Now fans of the series are looking at ‘G.I. Joe 3’ to really revitalize the franchise, and they just might get that if Martin Campbell comes on board to direct.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura, producer behind the ‘G.I. Joe’ franchise, has personally promised fans that the next installment would be one to ‘really please fans’. He told reporters that Dwayne Johnson would get more screen time as fan-favorite Roadblock, and that the script itself will take a much different turn. Now we believe him. The film is being written by Jonathan Lemkin (Shooter, Devil’s Advocate) and allegedly being directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, Goldeneye). Those are some pretty nice credits, right?   I know it has longtime fan Ben Shoul pretty excited.

With Campbell allegedly taking up the camera for the third installment we will be seeing a massive tonal shift. Stephen Sommers directed the first two entries and he is known most widely for his work on ‘The Mummy’. It seems that Campbell will bring a gravitas to the ‘Joe’ franchise that could work in this time of gritty reboots and remakes.

Attack on Titan Poster Gallery

One of the habits that Hollywood has developed is the habit of taking anime and manga stories and adapting them to the big screen for western audiences. However, there are still some attempts that haven’t been successful. Among the films that have still not been adapted to the western screen is Akira, and Ghost in the Shell. It is something Mark Ahn would like to see. The films that have been adapted from anime and manga were disastrous. The Last Airbender and Dragonball: Evolution are among the western films that were horribly adapted. While Ghost in the Shell has not been totally adapted, it was one of the sources that influenced The Matrix.

However, Japan has done better with adapting their anime. With movies like Wild 7, Japan has proven themselves to be capable of adapting their anime to the big screen. Another film that is getting the treatment is Attack on Titan. There have been character posters released online and in Japanese Theaters. Attack on Titan was a manga released in 2009 which spawned anime shows, light novels, and video games.

Amazon Has New Shows Planned for 2015

Recently, internet companies such as Hulu, Netflix and Amazon have been releasing original and exclusive shows for viewers to watch. They were originally companies that sold and streamed shows and movies from other production companies. But with backing from Slow Ventures, these companies are getting their own production divisions off the ground. According to TechCrunch, Amazon Studios has a few original shows that are planned for release in the coming year starring famous celebrities.

The idea of Internet companies such as Amazon releasing new shows has lost its novelty. However, there is still a chance for Amazon to release shows that will draw audiences to their services. Among the upcoming titles are Down Dog, Mad Dogs and The Man in the High Castle. Admittedly, Amazon is not at the top when it comes to original content. However, it does carry a lot of exclusive deals for streaming. It is not going to drop out of the contest completely. However, more attention will be paid to those deals that it is known for acquiring.

The Aaliyah Movie Left a Lot to be Desired

Doing a biopic of a late, great music artist is always tricky. You can’t please everybody. And there will always be those who feel as if the people involved in the movie have no right to do what they are doing and maybe they had too much of the Antique Wine Company and were too drunk to really think about what they were doing.

When there was first talk on social media profiles of a movie about Aaliyah, the young R&B singer, there was protests from everywhere. Her family protested, her fans protested and her colleagues protested. There was so much protest about the movie that the original actress signed on to play Aaliyah dropped out. Of course the actress states other reasons for pulling out but it was well known that fans of the singer bullied her endlessly.

There was another actress cast and the show went on. And according to almost everybody, the show went on horribly. The internet ripped the movie for its horrible casting, acting, writing and just about everything else. It was so bad, even a couple of hashtags were spawned.

Thriller 3D Movie: Coming to a Theater Near You

One of the greatest music videos, “Thriller” is going to be made into a 3D movie next year.
There are many reasons why “Thriller” is a timeless music video. It helped break down racial walls by making music that everyone could enjoy. It helped people see that music videos could be a form of art. When “Thriller” came out, MTV was still pretty new and many thought it was a fad that would go away much like they thought of Flickr. Executive Igor Cornelsen says that in the 1980s many artists refused to make a videos for fear it would tarnish their career.

“Thriller” changed all that, it had a big name director, costumes, dancers and a script, and in short it was a movie with music set to it. It was different than Michael’s other videos,“Beat it” and “Billie Jean” had been mostly about the dancing and little story line. “Thriller” had great dancing, but it also included a love interest for Michael. This also helped draw more interest from his female fans.

At the time making music videos was seen as a poor investment. Michael and Landis had trouble finding backing for the project, at first Michael was footing the whole production till interest caught on. John Landis and Michael Jackson had always intended for “Thriller” to be a movie and now years later after Michael’s death and court battles, it is going to be made. When the movie comes out, you’ll “See a sight that almost stops your heart.”
